DESCRIPTION:Evolution of gene expression plays a major role in generating
phenotypic diversity and has been studied extensively in recent years. I w
ill present a comprehensive comparative analysis of gene regulation betwee
n yeast species and the emerging evolutionary insights. Importantly\, apar
t from understanding the evolutionary process\, these analyses reveal the
dynamics of gene expression and thereby elucidate basic mechanisms and pri
nciples of gene regulation. I will highlight a hybrid-based approach that
is instrumental in these analyses\, and describe the coupling that we rece
ntly identified with this approach between transcription and mRNA degradat
ion.\n\n\nNote the date and room change: Wednesday in 215\n\nHosted by Nit
