DESCRIPTION:This talk will initially outline the reasons to study fish imm
 unology from fundamental and applied viewpoints. It will then outline on-g
 oing work in Aberdeen on elucidating the cytokine network in fish\, with a
  focus on two cytokine families\, IL-1F and interferons\, with a compariso
 n to the known genes in mammals. The talk will finish with a look at the p
 ossible future use of cytokines as markers of resistance in fish disease m
 odels.
