DESCRIPTION:The wide controllability of the physical parameters in cold at
oms have\nmade it possible to experimentally investigate various concepts
in\nquantum many-body physics. Identifying and understanding the many-body
\nphases in the strongly correlated regime have been a challenge both\nfor
theorists and experimentalists. The real-time dynamics of such\nsystems h
ave been observed experimentally and is expected to provide\nbetter unders
tanding of the phase structure.\nEven in one-dimensional systems where man
y powerful theoretical\nmethods exist\, the effect of interparticle intera
ction on the\nlocalization of bosonic atoms in disordered potential remain
s\ncontroversial. Here we study a related problem of the interacting\nspin
-1/2 fermions in a lattice with the site energy modified by a\nquasiperiod
ic potential\, which works as a disorder. The density-matrix\nrenormalizat
ion group (DMRG) method allows numerically exact study of\nthe ground stat
e properties of one-dimensional lattice systems of\ninteracting atoms. We
 find that a short-range attractive interaction\ninduces localization [1].
By the time-dependent DMRG\, we also study\nthe real-time evolution of the
system close to the "metal"-insulator\ntransition after a trap potential
is removed while the quasiperiodic\npotential is kept on. We analyze the c
ritical exponents of the\ndiffusion process and compare the results agains
 t the non-interacting\ncases and the mean-field predictions [2].\n\n[1] M.
