  they also be useful in\nartistic contexts?\n\nThis talk introduces Improc
 ess\, a novel cross-disciplinary collaborative\nproject focussed on the de
 sign and development of tools to structure the\ncommunication between perf
 ormer and musical process. We will emphasise the\nimportance of musical no
 tation - not just from an ethnomusicological\nperspective but also as an o
 pportunity to explore the design and application of\nprogramming languages
  in novel contexts.\n
