DESCRIPTION:The Botany School building at the University of Cambridge was
officially opened in 1904. Arguing that academic department buildings in t
 heir internal\ndispositions of functions\, agglomeration of scales\, and n
otions of public display can act as primary sources\, I demonstrate how a
close reading of this building's architectural mesoscale can present a nua
nced view of\ndisciplinary developments and practices in British botany ar
 ound 1900.
