DESCRIPTION:Hankel structured low rank matrices appear frequently in\nsyst
ems and control problems. Well known examples are model reduction\nand sys
tem identification (which correspond to Hankel structured low\nrank approx
imation). In this talk\, we show that classical analysis and\nsynthesis pr
 oblems\, such as simulation\, prediction\, input estimation\,\nand output
tracking are special cases of a Hankel structured low rank\nmatrix complet
ion problem. There is no computational advantage in\nsolving the special p
roblems as a general matrix completion problem\,\nhowever\, the many-to-on
e mapping has aesthetic appeal and reveals hidden\nrelations.
