SUMMARY:How to Live in Low Energy Architecture - Prof. Chris Tweed - BRE T
rust Research Chair\, Director of the BRE Centre for Sustainable Design of
  the Built Environment\, Cardiff University.

DESCRIPTION:Abstract: In the pursuit of greater energy efficiency\, build
ings have become sophisticated pieces\nof equipment that require occupants
to operate them in precisely defined ways. Creating a comfortable environ
ment demands an unprecedented level of skill from occupants as well as an
understanding of how buildings and their systems work. This talk will exam
ine new trends in low energy building design and what these mean for occup
ants. The work draws on detailed field studies of how people use their hom
es and the environments they create.\n\n*Biography*: Professor Chris Tweed
is the BRE Trust Research Chair and Director of the BRE Centre for\nSusta
inable Design of the Built Environment (SuDoBE) in the Welsh School of Arc
hitecture at Cardiff University. His research is focused on the interactio
n between people and built environment technologies\, with the intention o
f informing design to improve the quality of human experience. A pervasive
theme monitoring and analysing building performance from a human perspect
 ive.
