cipation of the host red cell membrane - Dr Virgilio Lew\, PDN

DESCRIPTION:A recent study reveals that the intraerythrocytic asexual repr
oduction cycle of Plasmodium falciparum ends with the ruptured erythrocyte
membrane curling outwards\, buckling\, everting and vesiculating. Analogy
with the sequence seen during spontaneous inside-out vesiculation of eryt
hrocyte membranes suggests that the parasite co-opts pre-existing cytoskel
etal conformations to facilitate terminal merozoite dispersal. In the tal
k I will present extensive video material of the vesiculation and egress p
 rocesses
