DESCRIPTION:*Abstract*\n\nLocal Practices for a Global Society: Applying S
 ustainability in Universities\n\nThis years GreenBRIDGE Summer School invo
 lved students\, academics and professionals who were interested in explori
 ng sustainability in practice and contribute towards the improvement of ed
 ucational buildings. It introduced in particular the issues of conservatio
 n and energy management in cultural heritage\, using the historic building
 s of Cambridge as case studies. Other key issues addressed included: renew
 able technologies\, water consumption\, waste management\, social and beha
 vioural issues\, knowledge transfer in research & industry and public enga
 gement.\n\nThe variety of building age\, form and construction in the high
 er education sector provides a unique challenge in reducing the environmen
 tal impact of the UK’s building stock. Case studies in colleges and depa
 rtments\, informed by lectures\, seminars and workshops allowed coming up 
 with conclusions.\n\nThis session will provide an overiew of the summer sc
 hool and present the results for each of the case studies. It will also in
 clude discussions about the outcomes to take forward for next years GreenB
