DESCRIPTION:*Abstract*\n\nThe talk will cover carbon markets\, and financi
 ers' perspectives on issues such as climate change\, renewable energy and 
 energy-efficiency measures. The talk will consider the application of carb
 on markets to Central Asia and Eastern Europe in particular.\n\nFull abstr
 act TBC\n\n*Jan-Willem van de Ven\, Head of Secretariat\, EBRD -EIB Multil
 ateral Carbon Credit Fund*\n\nDutch-born Jan-Willem joined the EBRD in Aug
 ust 2003. He has been appointed as the Head of the Secretariat of the € 
 190 million EBRD – EIB Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund. Prior to this he
  was involved as a banker and contributed his expertise in carbon finance\
 , energy efficiency and renewables to EBRD projects. Jan-Willem has over t
 en years of experience in the development of sustainable energy projects f
 rom Central America to Eastern Europe\, as well as in the related policy d
 evelopment. He plays an active role in the international policy dialogue f
 or climate change protection and the promotion of energy efficiency and re
 newable energy. Prior to EBRD he worked as Innovation Manager with Dutch u
 tility company Essent. He has a M.Sc degree in Technology & Society Intern
 ational Technological Development Science from the Eindhoven University of
  Technology and a B.Eng in Business Engineering from the Eindhoven Higher 
 Technical School.
