DESCRIPTION:In 1972 Ol’ga Korbut’s Olympic debut made headlines around
  the world. However\, her performances provoked very different reactions i
 n the USSR and in the West. In this paper Lucy considers media coverage of
  Korbut and other Soviet sportswomen in the context of national ideologies
