DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we give a brief and gentle overview of the theo
 ry of injective modules over noetherian rings. After introducing some rele
 vant definitions\, we will quickly describe Matlis's classical results on 
 injectives over commutative rings. We then use these as motivation for stu
 dying injective modules over noncommutative noetherian rings\, where matte
 rs are substantially more difficult. We describe some of the technical hur
 dles\, and mention a bit about what little is known.
