DESCRIPTION:Interpreting meanings of home-based education may be approache
d through historical and cross-cultural investigation. Investigating the p
ractices\, purposes and contexts of such provision from the 1960s to the p
resent in England and British Columbia may provide insights into social hi
story and the history of education. Such investigation appears suited to a
n (online) oral history approach. Beyond summarising the study's prelimina
ry findings\, consideration of the work to-date invites discussion regardi
ng comparative studies\; accessing harder-to-reach groups and the use of t
he internet in research and in oral history.
