DESCRIPTION:Cambridge Bioenergy Initiative / Nuffield Council on Bioethics
event:\n\nIf you have missed the industry-focused discussion event on 1 S
ept\, here is another opportunity to hear and discuss the outcomes of the
Nuffield Report:\n\nTo achieve sustainable economic growth\, global societ
y needs to wean itself off fossil resources. This in turn puts increased p
ressure on available biomass\, land and water. In the rush for resources\,
ethical considerations are easily overlooked or given a low priority.\n\n
This April the Nuffield Council on Bioethics published its report on the e
thical issues surrounding biofuels (Biofuels: ethical issues). The report\,
which includes recommendations for policy and practice\, highlights that
its conclusions are also applicable to other sectors which build on bioma
ss as a key resource.\n\nVarsha Jagadesham will be discussing the findings
of the Council's report with the audience. The report can be downloaded
 from http://www.nuffieldbioethics.org/biofuels-0.
