DESCRIPTION:It is well-known that ice exists within Mars' polar caps. Howe
ver\, similar to Earth\, numerous smaller ice masses appear to populate lo
wer latitude regions on Mars. These glacier like forms (GLFs) form a subgr
oup of what have been identified as widespread viscous flow features throu
ghout Mars' mid-latitudes. In this seminar I will summarise Mars' environm
ental history and focus on the geographic distribution\, geometry and surf
ace characteristics of mid-latitude GLFs. I will summarise the current sit
uation in terms of what is known about the physical character and formatio
n of GLFs and highlight outstanding research questions for future glaciolo
 gical and geomorphological investigation.
