DESCRIPTION:This seminar will look at the theoretical base of a sociocultu
ral understanding of the role culture plays in the values and beliefs of i
ndividuals and groups and how this understanding can assist educators and
policy makers in defining and developing inclusive practice within educati
onal settings. My current research will then be presented in relationship
to understanding how mediated learning experiences facilitated within a h
umanist inspired sociocultural approach can assist in developing the psych
ological architecture required to engage in rational and ethical decision
making\, problem solving and conflict resolution so that shared agendas ca
n be developed within schools that promote learner engagement and inclusio
