DESCRIPTION:In complex Systems-on-Chip the external interfaces that were o
nce used extensively for development purposes have moved on-chip\, demandi
ng new debugging methods. Increased time to market pressure combined with
tough real-time and dependability requirements further increases the chall
enges of embedded systems development. Advanced on-chip debug support can
help overcome these increasing challenges by providing features targeted s
pecifically at real-time embedded systems. This talk overviews the state o
f the art for advanced on-chip debug support with reference to specific ca
se studies exploring several different solutions to this debug challenge:
the NEXUS standard and its mainstream implementation\, the package sized I
CE and finally a novel system centric solution that has been designed to a
ddress the challenge of debug support for application development targeted
on complex multiple processor core Systems-on-Chips.
