 Maintenance - Toshihiro Mukai\, visiting student\, DIAL

DESCRIPTION:As various monitoring techniques for power system maintenance
have been proposed\, academics have examined approaches to quantify the co
mpetitiveness of the monitoring-based maintenance. In the seminar\, I intr
oduce an approach to explore the monitoring value in decentralized power s
ystem maintenance. The approach uses a discrete-time Markov chain\, and th
en it is applied to the residential photovoltaic system maintenance case.
The analysis suggests that\, while the monitoring value is always positive
for system owners under our assumptions\, there are a couple of condition
s on having positive monitoring value for a maintainer.
