DESCRIPTION:I will review the mathematical setting for a many-body system
of identical quantum "symmetric" particles . Such systems may undergo a Bo
se-Einstein condensation. The main questions deal with reconciling the mic
roscopic description (Schrodinger operator) with the macroscopic one (Gros
s-Pitaevskii equation)\; to study the implications of the latter\; and to
understand the effects of interactions on the phase transition. I will sur
vey the existing literature and describe some results obtained with R. Sei
ringer and V. Betz about the critical temperature of interacting systems.
