DESCRIPTION:Dr Diane Lister is a part of the multidisciplinary Food Global
 ization in Prehistory project (FOGLIP\; http://www.foglip.mcdonald.cam.ac.
 uk/) and is based in the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. T
 he research presented today describes the use of molecular genetics method
 s to establish when and how the early globalisation of staple foodstuffs h
 appened across the Eurasian continent. In particular\, a phylogeographic s
 tudy of the eastward spread of the Southwest Asian crops barley and wheat 
 using different genetic markers will be discussed in relation to various a
 rchaeological questions.
