 ation\, and More - Dr. James Keirstead\, Research Fellow\, Department of C
ivil and Environmental Engineering\, Imperial College London

DESCRIPTION:Cities account for approximately two-thirds of global primary
energy demand and accordingly\, there has been an increased focus on model
ling urban energy supply and demand. In this talk\, Dr. Keirstead will pre
sent some results from the BP Urban Energy Systems project at Imperial Col
lege London and look at what's been happening in the field at large. The e
merging picture is one of hybrid methodologies\, specifically combining op
timization and simulation techniques to develop an understanding of urban
energy use from initial master planning through to daily operations.
