DESCRIPTION:Chaotic behaviour is between harmonic and random. It is not co
 mpletely random as the name implies. Although chaotic systems can be analy
 sed\, they are predictable only in the short term. Many examples of chaoti
 c systems exist. These include mechanical systems\, electronic systems\, t
 he weather and even the human heart. The presentation will demonstrate a n
 umber of these systems and explain their behaviour. Applications of chaoti
 c systems will also be presented. This will include the detection of heart
  fibrillation and using chaos in secure communication systems.\n\nTalk is 
 free for members\, and £2 for non-members.
