DESCRIPTION:Random Toeplitz matrices belong to the exciting area that lies
  at\nthe intersection of the usual Wigner random matrices and random Schro
 dinger\noperators. In this talk I will describe two recent results on\nran
 dom Toeplitz matrices. First\, the maximum eigenvalue\, suitably\nnormaliz
 ed\, converges to the 2-4 operator norm of the well-known\nSine-kernel. Se
 cond\, the limiting eigenvalue distribution is absolutely\ncontinuous\, wh
 ich partially settles a conjecture made by Bryc\, Dembo and\nJiang (2006).
  I will also present several open questions and conjectures.\n\nThis is jo
