DESCRIPTION:As in the twentieth century a central concern of twelfth centu
 ry philosophers was the theory of meaning. This seminar will examine the c
 laim that Abaelard anticipated Kripke in rejecting a descriptional account
  of meaning in favour of a causal explanation. Part of a seminar series gi
 ven by Prof Chris Martin and Prof. John Marenbon. Anyone interested is wel
