DESCRIPTION:A presentation by the Cambridge AUV team on their activities. 
  They will show and describe their latest AUV 'Red Herring'.\n\nThe Cambri
 dge Autonomous Underwater Vehicle team (www.cambridgeauv.co.uk) is a stude
 nt-run project to develop autonomous robot submarines. \n\nThe initial des
 ign criteria were for a small\, cheap ROV to inspect the underside of panc
 ake ice flows in the arctic. Developing an AUV that could perform this tas
 k remains a long term goal. The immediate challenge is the annual SAUC-E (
 Student Autonomous Underwater Challenge – Europe) competition\, aimed at
  University level students. The teams must design and build their own AUVs
  to attempt an underwater assault course consisting of gates\, drop target
 s\, surface zones and many other obstacles.\n\nRefreshments served from 18
 .30.  Talk starts at 19.00.  Ends 21.00 following discussion.\n\nFree to a
 ttend.  All welcome.  No need to register.\n\nThis talk is suitable for GC
 SE\, A-level and university students\, as well as practising engineers.  Y
