DESCRIPTION:I shall describe how to combine a dynamic pore network simulat
or for the displacement of oil from a porous medium by an aqueous phase\,
with a calculation of the advection and diffusion of chemical in the aqueo
us phase\, so as to model certain enhanced oil recovery processes. Result
s from the coupled simulation show how the occupancy of the pore space dif
fers between different recovery processes\, which has implications for the
interpretation of measurements made in oil reservoirs during recovery\, a
nd reveal that in certain circumstances interaction between the transport
of chemical and the displacement of oil stabilizes the overall displacemen
 t pattern.
