DESCRIPTION:NGOs play an important role in the education of persons with d
isabilities. Yet\, we know very little\, especially in the Southern contex
t\, how NGOs understand disability and education\, and how this understand
ing translates into educational support that they provide and reflects in
social\, cultural\, political and economic outcomes for young persons with
disabilities. This study contributes to addressing that gap. In collabora
tion with NGOs as critical friends\, this study employs a mixed method app
roach. The study is likely to inform whether or not the way disability and
education are understood have an impact on the educational support that i
s provided and the difference that is made to the lives of persons with di
 sabilities.
