DESCRIPTION:Questions have long been asked concerning children and sex edu
cation: What do they know\, what do they need to know\, how best to teach
them\, who should teach them and how does the advent of HIV and AIDS chang
e some of these answers? This book is a summary of a study of children’s
sexual knowledge and its interaction with formal schooling and the commun
ity. The enquiry was undertaken in three Africa countries\, Kenya\, Tanzan
ia and South Africa. It involved using photovoice\, video and interviews w
ith young people in primary schools.\n\nColleen McLaughlin is Deputy Head
of Faculty and Director of International Initiatives. She and the team are
now working on the next phase of the ASKAIDS project and are researching
