DESCRIPTION:Professor Stanley is Professor of Epithelial Biology in the Un
 iversity of Cambridge. She attended the Universities of London\, Bristol\,
  and Adelaide\, is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Honorar
 y Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She has
  served on several research council committees and was a member of the Bio
 logy and Biotechnology Science Research Council from 2000 to 2003. She is 
 currently a member of the Spongiform Encephalopathies Advisory Committee t
 hat advises the UK government on prion diseases\, and in 2004 was awarded 
 the OBE for services to Virology. \n\nProfessor Stanley's current research
  focuses on mechanisms of host defence and the development of vaccines and
  immunotherapies against human papillomaviruses\, the cause of cervix canc
 er. She has published extensively and is at present on the editorial board
  of Sexually Transmitted Infections\, Journal of Clinical Virology\, and R
 eviews in Medical Virology. She is a council member of the International P
 apillomavirus Society.\n\nThis talk is being hosted by Lucy Cavendish Coll
 ege as part of the Cambridge Science Festival.\n\nPLEASE NOTE: The event i
