DESCRIPTION:This is the annual Gretschen Amphlet Memorial Lecture\, hosted
by Parkinson's UK.\n\nBehind every symphony is a score\, where the music
is written down to guide the speed of the piece and bring\nthe orchestra t
ogether.\n\nResearch is just beginning to find out the ‘score’ for Par
kinson’s. By recording brain activity in people with\nParkinson’s we c
an find out what areas of the brain are doing and when.\n\nDr Magill leads
a team of lab-based researchers looking at the part of the brain where ma
ny of the nerve cells\naffected by Parkinson’s are located.\n\nProfessor
Brown’s research takes place directly with people with Parkinson’s in
the clinic\, unravelling why particular circuits in the brain stop workin
g properly and how these can be restored.\n\nCome along and find out more
about how\, together\, their research will improve understanding of Parkin
son’s.\nOur aim is to develop better treatments and find a cure.\n\nDr K
ieran Breen\, Director of Research and Innovation at Parkinson's UK will i
ntroduce the lecture. We’re grateful to Gretschen Amphlet's family\, who
se enerosity has made this lecture possible.\n\n
