DESCRIPTION:The talk will cover the different quantum phases of ultracold 
 bosonic atoms in a periodic one dimensional\noptical superlattice. The den
 sity matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method in the framework of the Bo
 se-Hubbard model will be used to obtain these phases for a wide range of d
 ensities and superlattice potentials.\n\nAt commensurate fillings\, the em
 ergence of the Mott insulator and the superfluid phases as well as Mott\ni
 nsulators induced by the superlattice will be discussed. Results showing t
 he coexistence of the superfluid phase with density oscillations at a part
 icular incommensurate filling for a certain range of parameters of the sys
 ytem will be presented\n
