DESCRIPTION:Yesterday's revision is today's accepted wisdom and so the rev
isionist view of the English Industrial Revolution has\, over the past dec
ades\, become fairly established. The 1760-1830 period is no longer seen a
s one of fast and widespread economic change\, but as one in which growth
and technological innovation was limited to certain\, rather small section
of the national economy. Overall productivity and economic growth was slo
 w. New research on Britain's historical occupational structure by the Camb
ridge Group is questioning this perceived wisdom.
