DESCRIPTION:Let _F_ be a _p_-adic field. The local Jacquet-Langlands corre
 spondence is a\nnatural bijection between irreducible discrete series repr
 esentations of\nGL<sub>_n_</sub>(_F_)\nand irreducible smooth representati
 ons of _D_^x^ where _D_ is a central\ndivision\nalgebra over _F_. In this 
 talk\, under the assumption "inv _D_ = 1/_n_"\, I will\nexplain\na geometr
 ic approach to construct the bijection. If moreover _n_ is prime\,\nmy met
 hod provides a purely local proof of the local Jacquet-Langlands\ncorrespo
 ndence.\n
