DESCRIPTION:I will outline an evolutionary account of women’s less frequ
 ent and less severe involvement in acts of direct aggression.  I will desc
 ribe several studies in which we have focused on the proposed psychologica
 l mechanism (a lower threshold for fear response) and attempted to disenta
 ngle it from allied or subsidiary concepts such as impulsivity\, sensation
  seeking\, and approach / avoidance mechanisms.
