DESCRIPTION:The Violence and Conflict Graduate workshop was established to
  bring together military historians with those looking at the social\, cul
 tural and political histories of violence.\n\nThe conveners are this year 
 holding this one day conference with the aim of exploring one specific—c
 ultural—dimension within the broad theme of violence and conflict and to
  attract a broader audience and variety of speakers than possible at the t
 ermly sessions.\nThe conference will be structured around the following th
 ree broad categories:\n\n* The use of violence beyond state-centred approa
 ches\n\n* The cultural impact of violence\n\n* The memorialisation and com
 memoration of violence\n\nIn bringing together graduate researchers from d
 ifferent research institutes and disciplines\, the conference will create 
 an ideal forum for an innovative discussion on violent culture and cultura
