DESCRIPTION:The overall aim of the research is to understand the relations
 hip between women and the land in a rapidly changing rural society in the 
 economically better off and socially progressive region of western Maharas
 htra\, India. It also seeks to investigate if and how women claim their in
 heritance rights. The study aims to understand how rural women negotiate t
 heir identities in relation to land on the backdrop of increasing incidenc
 e of land sale\, migration and urbanisation.\n\n\n
