DESCRIPTION:Recent research on consultations between outpatients with schi
zophrenia\nand psychiatrists suggests that the likelihood of adherence to
treatment\ncorrelates with particular conversational phenomena -- specific
ally\, the\nuse of repair by the patient to check their understanding. Thi
s talk\nwill discuss initial results from a project investigating the\napp
lication of computational linguistic techniques to automatically\ndetect t
hese repair phenomena within consultation transcripts\, and to\nuse these
and other features of the dialogue and the language used to\npredict patie
 nts' symptoms\, satisfaction and adherence.
