DESCRIPTION:The spin of an electron\, or hole\, in a quantum dot provides
an optically controlled quantum memory. In this talk I will present our re
cent optical studies of individual InAs/GaAs self-assembled quantum dot mo
lecules – two InAs dots separated by a thin GaAs tunneling barrier. Whe
n the energies of the individual charged dots are brought into resonance b
y an external electric field\, the optical spectrum forms spectral pattern
s that reveal a great deal about the physics of these artificial molecules
  and enables optically controlled entanglement
