DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:*\nThe talk discusses a model called SAPPhIRE. This 
 model was originally created to model causality and explain how systems wo
 rk. However\, as it developed it proved possible to integrate many current
  models. This\nresearch has provided insights into how current ways of des
 igning might be improved and\, in particular\, it has supported the develo
 pment of new methods for supporting biomimetic ideation and creativity.\n\
 nThe talk will also touch on other research in the IdeasLab at the Indian 
 Institute of Science including knowledge management\, ecodesign\, virtual 
 reality for assembly\, and design for emotions.\n\n*About the speaker:*\nA
 maresh Chakrabarti completed a Ph.D at the EDC 20 years ago (1992) before 
 joining Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing (CPDM) at the Indian I
 nstitute of Science in Bangalore. He is the founder and co-ordiantor of th
 e IDeas Lab - a research team within the CPDM which has a broad research f
 ocus including issues relating to design creativity\, design methodology\,
  sustainability\, collaborative innovation\, knowledge and life cycle mana
 gement.
