DESCRIPTION:Professor Flynn of the "Flynn Effect" will preview the most st
riking material in his new book\, the successor to "What is Intelligence?"
(2007). \n\nThe developing world is overtaking the developed world\, both
for mean IQ and economic progress. The "ice ages hypothesis" about the ev
olution of a racial hierarchy for IQ is refuted - as are recent attempts b
y Jensen and Rushton to evidence the genetic inferiority of American black
 s. The current generation of women have matched men on Raven's Progressiv
e matrices.\n\nSince 1950\, there has been a disturbing tendency for adult
s to enhance their active vocabularies in a way they cannot transfer to th
eir children by socialization. Finally\, there is evidence of a "bright ta
x": the brighter the person\, the steeper the decline of analytic\nabilit
 y in old age.
