DESCRIPTION:In order to drastically improve the energy efficiency\, we bel
ieve that future computer processors need to go beyond parallelization\, a
nd provide architecture support of customization and specialization so tha
t the processor architecture can be adapted and optimized for different ap
plication domains. In particular\, we believe that future processor archit
ectures will make extensive use of accelerators to further increase energy
efficiency. Such architectures present many new challenges and opportunit
 ies\, such as accelerator synthesis\, scheduling\, sharing\, virtualizatio
n\, memory hierarchy optimization\, and efficient compilation and runtime
support. In this talk\, I shall present our ongoing research in these area
s in the Center for Domain-Specific Computing (supported by the NSF Expedi
tions in Computing Award).\n\n\nBio:\n\nProfessor Cong is Chancellor’s P
rofessor at the Computer Science Department of University of California\,
Los Angeles\, Associate Vice Provost for Internationalization\, the direct
or of Center for Domain-Specific Computing (funded by an NSF Expeditions i
n Computing Award)\, and co-director of the VLSI CAD Laboratory. He also s
erved as the department chair from 2005 to 2008.\n
