  CPE’s Work For War Affected Children\n \nAfter 14 years of deadly war\,
  Charles Taylor\, the former rebel leader and president of Liberia\, was c
 onvicted of War Crimes and is expected to serve 50 years in a British pris
 on cell.\n \nWhat does this mean to ordinary Liberians\, both victims and 
 perpetrators\, especially children? Justice\, whose Justice? Peace\, what 
 kind of peace? An end to violence?\n \nThe sad reality is that even though
  the war ended some seven years ago\, children and young people continue t
 o use violence as a means to achieving or protecting their interests.\n \n
 To help find solutions to continued violence in Liberia\, the Centre for P
 eace Education (CPE) was established in March 2009 with a mission to teach
  young people and others involved in the conflict\, the skills and knowled
 ge to live peacefully.\n \n                         And so\,\n \nTo commem
 orate 165 years of Liberia’s Independence\, on 26 July I am hosting a ch
 arity event at which I will give a talk about Liberia and the work of CPE.
  The event will include an exhibit which will showcase pupils’ visual an
 d written artistic expressions of war\, peace\, and symbols of peace.\n \n
