DESCRIPTION:Intermittency has been observed in turbulent flows for more th
 an 60 years and yet the challenge remains to show that solutions of the 3D
  Navier-Stokes equations generically display this phenomenon. Not un-natur
 ally it is intimately bound up with the even longer-standing regularity pr
 oblem. This talk will display some technical methods\, involving ladders o
 f higher Lp-norms of vorticity (for both the NS and Euler equations)\, tha
 t will give some insight into the problems involved.\n\n
