DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \n\nClimate change has started to influence the desi
gn of buildings and masterplans for a number of years now. Improvements ov
er building regulations requirements\, Code for Sustainable Homes and BREE
AM assessments and renewable energy technologies are now common\, particul
arly in London. Due to increased pressure from building regulations\, plan
ning policy\, Corporate Social Responsibility drivers as well as the abili
ty to rely on better skills across the construction industry\, the four y
ears ahead of us (2012-‐2016) are likely to see this trend continue. \
n\nThe purpose of this talk is to discuss whether the way buildings and ma
sterplans are designed will significantly change over this period in order
to meet the requirements of the Low/Zero Carbon Agenda. \nThe speakers wi
ll explain\, through case studies\, how the carbon agenda has been deliver
ed since 2005 and discuss the main issues over the next 4 years and beyond
\, in particular: \n\n* Ever increasing energy efficiency standards \n\n*
Low carbon heat and decentralized electricity generation \n\n* What are t
he large-‐scale renewable energy solutions likely to be available in t
he short/medium term\n\n* Improvements of existing homes: will the Green
Deal be enough? \n\n* Will value associated with environmental ratings ge
nerate more investment? The talk will consist of a 40-‐minute presenta
tion followed by Q&A. \n\nSpeakers:\n\nThomas Lefevre – Director – Etu
