DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will give an overview of the Nonhydrostatic Uni
fied Model of the Atmosphere (NUMA). NUMA solves the fully compressible no
nhydrostatic equations with the goal to have it unified across various fro
nts including: applications (local-area and global modeling)\; numerics (u
sing both continuous and discontinuous Galerkin methods)\; time-integratio
n (explicit and implicit-explicit methods)\; iterative solvers and precond
itioners (using a suite of these)\; grid generation (using both conforming
and non-conforming grids)\; and finally\, parallelization (using both CPU
and GPU based parallelization). In this talk\, we will describe what we m
ean by each of these components and will report on the status of each of t
hese components. The work that we shall describe will set the stage for th
e work we wish to carry out during the stay of my group at the Newton Inst
 itute. \n
