DESCRIPTION:This talk will firstly give an overview of the key factors con
 tributing to earthquake-induced building damage.  Ground-based and satelli
 te-imagery based methods of damage assessment will be described and their 
 relative advantages and disadvantages discussed.  Finally\, recent and fut
 ure applications of earthquake damage assessments\, including some current
  projects\, will be presented.
