DESCRIPTION:Field geological mapping of British Antarctic Territory has be
 en ongoing for the last 50-60 years\, but over an area five times the size
  of the United Kingdom and with a relatively small number of geologists wo
 rking during short summer seasons.\n \nTeal Riley is a field geologist and
  head of the Geological Mapping Group at the British Antarctic Survey. He 
 has worked for BAS since 1995 and has spent 11 summer seasons in the Antar
 ctic mapping and interpreting the geology its long lived continental margi
 n arc.\n \nThe presentation will discuss the practicalities of Antarctic f
 ieldwork\, the use of remote sensing data to support fieldwork and the geo
 logical history of the Antarctic Peninsula and its correlations with Gondw
 ana and the Andean margin.\n
