SUMMARY:Future High Energy Electron-Proton Scattering: The LHeC Project -
 Paul Newman (Birmingham)

DESCRIPTION:The LHeC project aims to supplement the CERN machine infrastru
cture with a (nominally 60 GeV) electron accelerator\, producing electron-
proton collisions at an instantaneous luminosity of order 10^33 cm-2 s-1 s
imultaneously with the existing LHC proton-proton collisions. An electron-
ion programme is also foreseen. This seminar will give an overview of the
physics potential of an LHeC with this specification and will also briefly
cover accelerator\, interaction region and detector aspects.
