DESCRIPTION:In this seminar I will discuss a general formalism to match ne
 xt-to-leading order\ncalculations to parton shower resummations\, emphasis
 ing its analytical properties\nand detailing how the well-known algorithms
  MC@NLO and POWHEG are two incarnations\nthereof exploiting the left-over 
 degrees of freedom differently. Further\,\nnext-to-leading order to parton
  shower matched implementations are a necessary input\nfor extending the C
 KKW method of merging multiple tree-level matrix elements of\nsuccessive j
 et multiplicities to next-to-leading order\, such that both the\nfixed-ord
 er accuracy is maintained in every jet mulitplicity and the parton shower'
 s\nresummation properties are unspoiled. Both topics will be explained ana
 lytically and\nresults of their respective implementations will be compare
 d to data.
