DESCRIPTION:We consider the Laplace transform (LT) filtering integration s
 cheme applied to the shallow water equations\, and demonstrate how it can 
 be formulated as a finite difference scheme in the time domain by analytic
 al inversion of the transform. \n\nBoth Eulerian and semi-Lagrangian versi
 ons of the scheme are analyzed. We show the relationship between the LT sc
 heme and the slow equations. We demonstrate the advantages of the LT schem
 e by means of numerical integrations.\n\n\n
